If you plan to attend any of the scheduled days, please contact Jill Swafford no later than 3 days before the scheduled day you wish to attend. If there aren't enough people who register, the in-service may be cancelled or the date and/or location changed. Keep checking back here and the district news portal page for any announcements. Other inservice days will be scheduled on such topics as DIBELS (how to read data and use in the classroom), ActivBoard training (two days required for those receiving an ActivBoard), ThinkLink, SuccessMaker, and Education City.

June 1 The Nine Best Practices Most Effective in Improving Student Achievement Central Office 8:30-3:30 This session will review the best teaching practices as described by Dr. Robert Marzano from a collection of educational research. After a discussion of each practice, teachers will have an opportunity to develop a lesson using the practice. We will swap ideas on how each of us has incorporated them into our past and current lessons. June 1 Standards-Based Report Cards and Grade Level Meetings Benton Elementary 8:30-3:30

The discussion will include how differentiation can be used in RTI and in improving value-added scores. July 28 Train-the-Trainers Workshop on New Standards Central Office 8:30-3:30 Teachers who attended the state training (either June 3-4 or June 21-22) for the new standards will work today to plan and coordinate our presentations to the schools in updating information on the standards. Using Test Results to Plan Instruction

Central Office 8:30-3:30 This one-day session will be a work day on analyzing test scores and value-added projections in order to plan instruction for the first few weeks of school. Discussion will also include how to use formative assessments to continue with planning. Teachers should bring copies of their test scores and any other information that might be helpful. July 30 Classroom Management and Organization Program Central Office 8:30-3:30 This three-day training is required for new staff members and for any others who wish to attend. This first day will introduce practices to get the school year started well. The second and third days will be scheduled in the fall with substitutes provided for those who attend.
