Where Great Things Happen

Meet Our Principal
Valerie Davis.PNG

It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself, Mrs. Valerie Davis, the Principal of Benton Elementary School.  My passion for education and supporting student success of all students has been shaped over the past 11 years. I began my journey as a student of Polk County Schools, then attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education). During my first-year teaching, I earned a master’s degree in Administration and Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. After a few years of teaching, I earned my Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial as well. I have taught at Benton and South Polk. I also was the Assistant Principal at Chilhowee Middle for 3 years, and I just finished up my first year as principal. But my greatest achievement comes not professionally, but personally, as I am the mother of two beautiful children Baylor (6) and Charlestyn (2). In each of my roles, I have sought to ensure the success of each student and the school, by providing the best instructional and extracurricular opportunities and supports possible. Similarly, it is my number one priority at BES to ensure that every student receives the most well-rounded education possible.

Over the past 11 years, I have worked hard as a teacher and administrator, but I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and large. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community. My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy, and safe, so they may learn as much as they can. Please know that I will work tirelessly to ensure all your children have the best possible experiences while at Benton Elementary.

The mission of Benton Elementary School is for all students to be proficient and beyond in reading and math, according to the Tennessee Standards. Students will be prepared to make a contribution to society with a solid educational foundation, a strong sense of self-worth, and a lifelong quest for learning.

Our Mission

The vision of Benton Elementary School is that all students are empowered to face the choices, challenges, and cultural diversity of the 21st Century. Parents, community, faculty, and staff will work collaboratively in the pursuit of excellence for our school.
